Just in time before my retirement, by a coincidence, a user of a Christian seminar informed me of a unknown namesake, over whom I later received basis and impact for my family-historical research work. He thank-worth sent to me the copy of an extensive elaboration, which a police officer Paul Wonneberger arranged between 1930 and 1940. Family history with 256 names of our kinship on 27 typewriter pages. Subsequently my thanks are entitled to him.
Though this the hobby ancestor research began for me in the autumn 1992.

My objectives:

  • Investigate of all persons with the name PÖRSEL, POERSEL and the like.
  • Origin of the kinship in germany:
  • Origin and meaning of the name fathom.
  • Similarly sounding names within the anglo-saxon area find predominant.
  • Manufacture a possibly connection to Henry Purcell, English composer, *1658 +1695.
  • Determine from persons with the name in other countries.

The status to 31.12.2007:

·        Investigated persons to 1450:                       1708

         Persons with the following names were seized:

         PÖRSEL, POERSEL, PÖRSELL, von POERSELL, POERSSEL, PORSEL, von PORSEL, PORSELL, PORSSEL,

         PORßEL, van PORSELL, PORSSELL, PERSEL (kinship from Upper Silesia; way of writing partially:

         PÖRSEL).

·        Origin of the kinship in germany: Area Sagan/Sprottau/Schlesien/Deutschland.

·        Different possible meanings of the name and the respective origin determined.

·        116 similarly sounding names were so far found.

·        A Connection to Henry Purcell could not be determined so far.

·        761 persons with the seized names from that 16.-20. Century were determined in other countries.
