MEANING and ORIGIN of the NAME P Ö R S
E L
1. At
the 22.Jan. 1998, was I after some months again once in the hessian
federal state library in Wiesbaden, in order to examine different by
the name well-inform dictionaries after the meaning and origin of the
name POERSEL. I had success to my joy (s.Anl.). Afterwards the name of
the word trunk CASTLE ("castle, protection" would come). With
transition of the "g" into a sibilant the following words
result: BURZEL ("small, thick humans"), BURTZ, BUERZEL
("mockery name") BORZEL, also POERZEL ("small
humans"), PURCELLARIUS ("pigs heardsman"), mlat.,
HONPURCZIL ("Huehnerbuerzel"), BURTZ, BOERSEL, BOERTZEL,
BORZ, PUERSCHEL, BUERSCH(EL), BUERZ(EL), BYRCZEL, PUR, PURSTEL,
PUERSTEL, PIRSTEL, (all mean "Butzeman") - s. plants.

On an inquiry in the InterNet I found different contributions, which
point out over Alta Vista Web Sites that one in particular calls a
small purse BOERSEL in the Austrian area. (with the fact one should
note that in Schlesien the letter "B"
is expressed from the dialect as "P"
e.g. Bauer - Pauer, so that from BOERSEL evtl. POERSEL became).

A further InterNet inquiry after the name PERSEL brought the following
result: The house ass a leaky filter has Estni proverbs with the
literal translation into the German language PERE PERSEL SORRE SOEGEL
=, whereby unfortunately the word PERSEL corresponds to the third word
of the German version (this bad Esten!)

Over the InterNet (www.geocities.com) I experience at the beginning of
January 2001 that the name PERSEL seems to probably come in the English
into grey prehistoric times from the family of the herbs. I try to
still experience more details. The text, to which I refer, is

To 27.06.2001 I received a call from Mr. Juergen Walter, of whom
Wiesbadener Mormonenkirche, which referred me to a "historical map
of the Principality of Liegnitz" from the year 1750
(http://gauss.suub.uni bremen.de/cgi bin/hmap.cgi), in which the
locality PÖRSEL is specified, while the available map represents the
way of writing with "e" to me from the year 1940 thus PERSEL.

Over the search machine "Google" I found in the middle of
January 2002 under www.voli.bs.it/ossimo/ipp/avvisi.htm an entry over
"La Sagra del Poersel". I asked the question about the
meaning of the name in the "expert market place" of
www.freenet.de to the answer. Mrs. Chiara Sambuchi, responsibly for the
range "Italy", gave me the following explanation: "in
this connection Poersel" pig means ". "La saga del
Poersel" means simply "the legend of the pig". Poersel
is a dialektales word originating from north Italy, that from the
Italian "Porcello" (pig "evenly) comes." The DUDEN
says also the fact that "it.Wort porcellana of lat. it. porcella
(small female pig) or lat.porcus (pig, nut/mother pig) is derived; the
beauty of the scenic transferred meaning sea shell (see in this sense
venez.porzella, porzeleta)." I have myself afterwards with a
question about the interpretation of the name over the guest book of
the InterNet address (www.cortenogolgi.it/vocabolare/p.htm.) to get
turned to the author, who had published the article "LA Sagra del
Poersel", in order also from there further information: Here the
answer from 26 February 2002 on behalf of Antonio Stefanini: "at
Mr. PORSEL! In the 2.Band of my dictionary of the dialect, which is
spoken in Valcamonica, one finds the in demand word, which is written
in the central and high valley "porhčl" or
"porsčl". The first meaning is from the "pig". In
the transferred sense it means "lecheros, indecent (obscene),
dirty, indecently or glutton, giant, awkward, roughly, loutish."
According to my opinion however this meaning does not interest with the
surname of Mr. Poersel. Because

in German the name something else will surely mean,

the surname "Poersel" has nothing with our dialect to do,
because he has probably another Etymologie (celtic, Germanic, Baltic,
slawisch etc..)

recommend to undertake Mr. Poersel a etymologische research. It is
necessary to know exactly how the root is classified "por" in
the dictionary by Devoto. "Porko" is indoeuropaiesch (of
latin "porcus", of medieval latin "porcellus") and
"porro" is Mediterranean. Then you should seek in the list of
the noble surnames, if the name existed or a combination write, which
is occupied with coat of arms customer, if there is such a thing in
your country. Linguist: Professor Giacomo Goldaniga (translation of the

time approximately around 1940 said by their teacher that the name
POERSEL either

Linguistic appraisal to origin and meaning of the surname POERSEL of
20.09.2007 In the summer 2006 I requested then a linguistic appraisal
over origin and meaning of the surname POERSEL, in order to let the
question for me answer finally. In the following an excerpt from the
result: The name POERSEL, more rarely also POERSEL belongs with 57
telephone connections to the relatively frequent surnames in Germany;
per connection one counts on on the average 2.8 persons, who carry the
name concerned. "relative frequently" marks the consultant
the names, with more than approx.. 100 and less than approx.. 1000 name
carriers. "rare ones" names are such, with less than 25 name
carriers
8.1.
The surname Poersel can be explained from linguistic view, it is
however several possibilities of the emergence to be stated, which come
in the presumed homeland area into Low Silesia into question. Poersel as
origin name. This explanation of the name has the by far largest
probability. With an origin name referred to a place the first name
carrier at its new domicile was designated, because it originated from
the place. With origin names generally applies that the new residence
not very far from the name-giving place far away will have lain,
